Nathan and Jamie Minott
Where Are They Now?

In the Southwestern International Church of Christ we always have disciples moving in and out of our fellowship, especially military families. Have you wondered how those disciples are doing since leaving the El Paso or Las Cruces area? Well wonder no more about Nathan and Jamie Minott! I was able to get in touch with Jamie and find out what she and her family have been up to since moving from El Paso to Clarksville, Tennessee. They’ve definitely had their challenges and blessings and were eager to share them with the SWICOC family through this article. The biggest challenge for the Minotts has definitely been Nathan’s deployment to Iraq. Jamie said, “You never know how much you love someone until they’re not there all the time.” But through it, they have learned their need to rely on God more and not on each other to get security. Luckily, Nathan is able to call Jamie every day which is a huge blessing as not all the spouses have that privilege. One of the blessings before Nathan’s deployment was that he was able to see the birth of their first child, a son who they named Logan. And not only were the Minotts able to buy a house, but living in Clarksville has brought the blessing of living near Nathan’s parents who help Jamie a ton with Logan. With her Guatemalan background, Grandma is even teaching little Logan some Spanish! There is a small group of disciples in Clarksville who along with the Minotts are part of the Greater Nashville Church. It is a small group but they are very close. “God has blessed us with a lot of blessings,” said Jamie, “and I never realized that until I started writing this letter.” Jamie also expressed how much both she and Nathan miss the SWICOC family. While in El Paso, “people really took us under their wing,” Jamie said. Jamie misses the times the sisters would hang out at Applebee’s after midweek. She misses wondering what new nail color Lia or Karilyn would be wearing to Sunday service and “who can forget Mexican Train dominoes!” she reminisced. They loved just hanging out with Brenda and Aaron at their house or Starbucks and she’ll never forget “Mempha, Mempha, Mempha” which the Mendez’ know what that’s all about. Jamie said she knows in El Paso, she’d have plenty of mothers from whom to get advice: Jessica, Delores, Priscilla, Brenda, Robyn and Bernice. For anyone who has recently moved into El Paso or Las Cruces, she had the following words, “First of all, welcome to the desert! And welcome to a family of disciples who will take care of you spiritually, emotionally, physically and whatever other needs that need to be met. That is one thing that is great about the Kingdom is that no matter where you go there is someone who wants to be your friend and help you in the long race that we run to get to the glory that God had promised us.” She welcomed anyone to get in contact with them to catch up or reminisce and remember the good times that were shared (please see me if you need the Minott’s address, phone number or email address).
